Important Installations as Part of Week Five of the One Room Challenge

I cannot believe it is Week Five of the One Room Challenge (ORC). It is strange that the ORC started off slowly as you plan, demolish, order, then work hard. But, what if something is delayed or goes wrong eek! I will tell you about my worst fear later, but read on first.

To refresh your memory, this is the link to my design plan for our slanted ceiling, windowless laundry room. To date, things have progressed really well. We have a new cabinet and I am really pleased about the stencilled tile floors. It took almost a full week for the floors to be completely dry and ready to walk on so it was hard to move forward with other installations and laundry itself lol.

Baseboards

@GerainttheWelsh installed new baseboards in the areas of the room that didn’t have baseboards. There was a strange cabinet in the room when we first bought the house, so we removed it and never got around to putting in new baseboards. It is amazing what a nice finished look baseboards give to the room. I am giving them a lick of paint and that will be done.

Always the helpful one, Lola assisted Geraint in installing baseboards in the laundry room.

Cabinetry

The cabinet that @GerainttheWelsh built was put in place. It is great that it will big enough to hold the laundry baskets, soaking bins and laundry detergent. All of these things will be tucked away behind a closed door.

The new extra-large cabinet has been installed in the laundry room.

Lighting

The other task this week is installing new lighting. There are two new lights, one to replace and existing light and one new light to be installed. @GerainttheWelsh took power from an outlet and added the light above it. It took a bit to fish the cable, but he was able to add the new light without making any new holes in the wall. Yippee! I will now be able to see when I am ironing clothes.

Geraint installed the new light fixtures.

Anxiety

The one thing that is giving me a bit of anxiety is the new counter top and shelf that have been ordered, but are not yet ready. We are leaving town for five days for our middle daughter Sydney‘s university graduation. I really hope it will be ready when we return. There will barely be time for installation, styling, final pictures and a blog before the Week Six final post.

There is lots of exciting progress being made by all of the designers and guest participants. Be sure to check out their posts. And make certain that you come back for the final reveal on Week Six.

Always

Leslie
