Today we have some easy Valentine’s Day decorations. Valentine’s Day is one of my favourite holidays. It’s placement on the calendar in mid February is perfect. It seems we all need something to celebrate at this point in the dark and cold winter. And the fact that it comes with chocolate, well what can I say?
I have gotten together with a few friends to share some easy Valentine’s Day decorations, home decor, food and drink ideas to help make your Valentine’s Day celebration special. I want to give a big thank you to Mary @fancyfixdecor for pulling us together and getting us organized
Welcome to everyone that is here and to those that came from Leen @sanddollarlane. Leen is a real sweetie and shares so many wonderful decor ideas and coastal farmhouse charm on her blog.
My Suggestions for Easy Valentine’s Decorations
I live in Ontario, Canada and we currently have a stay at home order. We have been home since Boxing Day, so for me, that means no going out to hunt for craft supplies.
Here are a few ideas to help you decorate your home for Valentine’s Day using mostly things that you already have (or at least I had anyway).
Heart Tree an Easy Valentine’s Day Decoration
To make this easy Valentine’s Day, I pulled a branch from our yard. I felt like a kid in elementary school cutting out hearts out of construction paper. Hey teachers, cutting straight lines is not as easy as it seems lol.

I randomly glued hearts on the branches, with one on the front and one on the back. It was easier to work with the branch lying flat as it takes a minute for the glue to set up. I used plain old school glue. This is a fun project to do with kids.

Love Quote Garland
Garlands are such an easy Valentine’s Day decoration and a simple and way to add a bit of seasonal decoration to the room.
To make this love quote garland, I printed out short quotes about love that I found on the internet.
As a backing for the quotes, I started by cutting large heart shapes out of file folders. You can use any light weight cardboard such as bristol board. But again, I had to use the things that I had at home. To add a bit of colour I had Valentine themed wrapping paper that I cut into a slightly smaller heart to add a bit of background colour. You don’t have to to a heart shape, I think other shapes and different background would make your garland unique. I then glued a quote onto each heart.

The hearts were glued together back, to back so that there was a quote on each side. I did this so that once they were hanging, if they flipped over you would still see a quote. I ended up adding a bit of tape once they were hanging as in some cases the glue was not strong enough.
To make the garland itself, you cut a piece of twine to be the length that you want it. I happened to have this red and beige Christmas twine, but you could use string or ribbon. Four or five feet is a good length for a garland. I tied a knot ever 6 inches on mine so that the hearts would be easily spaced.
I punched a hole in each of the hearts and used thread to attach one at each of the knots on the twine. You can use fine string or ribbon to attach the hearts also.
It was a fiddly to get it all put together it looks really pretty. I find myself walking up to it and reading the quotes and suggested that hubby do the same. lol

Fabric Garland
Here is another easy Valentine’s Day decoration. This is a link to a garland that I made last year. All the details are on this blog.

Candy Tray
The kids will love this one. I used the painted jars that I made quite a while ago using glass paint that bought at Micheals. I found that the red and white colour works for on Canada Day and also at Christmas. Who does not love a candy tray? I just picked up a few things at the pharmacy and styled a tray with what I had. It is amazing what you find when you shop your house to make an easy Valentine’s Day decoration and it is a great what to add seasonal beauty to your home without spending much.
