Welcome to Week 2 of the @ORC. I am pleased to show you the design plan for my coastal feeling family bathroom.
It all started with this photo of a bathroom by @StudioMcGee. I was in love with this colour blue and kept the photo tucked away for a long time.
When we started planning for the family bathroom, this image was still on my mind. I had in my mind that this picture had star-like tiles as the backsplash so that was the first choice that I made. It turns out that there were no star-like tiles in the picture, so this is where the departure was made. Incidentally, this family bathroom is right next door to the laundry room update that I did for the ORC last spring.
When I was at the tile store (Olympia Tile) on the same display as the star tile was the patterned hex tiles. I had planned to do a pebble-like shower floor, but these patterned tiles were so fun and I thought a little pizzaz was just what the family bath needed.

Then, I found these fantastic black faucets and shower hardware on Amazon and I knew I had to have them.
From here a beachy aesthetic started to form, cue the sand coloured large scale floor tiles and the extra long subway tiles.
The plan came together with this print that I sourced through @Juniperprintshop. Juniper Print Shops partnered with @YoungHouseLove who took this picture on the beach in Port Charles Florida. I have been a long-time follower of both of these accounts so this print felt familiar to me. I like the vibe that it gives to our family bathroom.
I am so happy to be able to bring you along as this plan evolves.
